“At the heart of Earth Day’s 2021 theme, Restore Our Earth, is optimism, a critically needed sentiment in a world ravaged by both climate change and the pandemic,” Kathleen Rogers, president of EarthDay.org
Happy Earth Day from Team Project Jatropha. April 22, 2021, marks the 51st anniversary of Earth Day! This should be a day for all of us to reflect on ways to make Earth a better place for all of us and the generations to come. The theme of this year’s Earth Day is ‘Restore Our Earth’, with a strong focus on natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s ecosystems. Though we are in the middle of a devastating, global pandemic, we can’t turn away from our duty to protect the earth and our environment from catastrophic climate change. There are several sustainable changes we can make that can have a positive impact on the environment. For example, we can plant trees in our communities and reduce our energy consumption by unplugging electronic gadgets after using them. Buying local produce can help preserve farmland and reduce food miles, air pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. We also urge you all to become a member of an environmental organization in your local community
Many of us are taking extra precautions, such as using disinfectant wipes, to stay safe in this pandemic. To prevent clogging our sewage system, these wipes should be thrown in the garbage instead of being flushed in a toilet. Please stay safe, wear masks, and continue to practice social distancing. Let us work together and make this earth a safe place for all. Happy Earth Day!

Thank you!
