“No one has ever become poor from giving.” – Anne Frank
We’re thrilled to announce that Project Jatropha has partnered with the City of Fremont to make a positive impact in our community by supporting the homeless in Fremont. The City of Fremont offers various services to help individuals experiencing homelessness, including:
- Winter and weather-related resources
- Affordable housing
- Emergency shelter
I had the privilege of meeting and interviewing Ms. Paula Manczuk-Hannay, the Human Services Development Officer, who has been instrumental in establishing our partnership. Ms. Hannay has been a leader in the City’s Human Services Department and has been working tirelessly to address the issues of homelessness in Fremont.
The City of Fremont accepts donations of essential items to support the unhoused community. Here are some of the items list below that are needed:
- Clothing: Adult-sized clothing in small to XXXL, including t-shirts, sweatpants, sweaters, undergarments, sleeping bags, and tents
- Toiletries: Toothpaste and toothbrushes, menstrual supplies (tampons), and other essential items
- CleanStart unit: New items with original tags and packaging, such as t-shirts, sweatpants, leggings, and backpacks
We’ve been working with the City of Fremont since April 2024 and hope to continue our partnership to make a difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness through the end of the year. More blog updates with the excerpts from the interview with Ms. Hannay will be posted in the upcoming blogs. Project Jatropha is very thankful to Ms. Hannay for making the partnership happen.
