“You could power the entire United States with about 150 to 200 square kilometres of solar panels, the entire United States.” – Elon Musk

No power at home today and suddenly everything stops. It’s a small reminder of how dependent we are on energy — and how fragile the grid can be. While we were waiting for the lights to come back, I couldn’t help but think, the sun was shining bright outside the whole time, full of power we weren’t using.

That’s exactly why solar matters for global warming. Unlike coal and gas, solar doesn’t burn anything or release greenhouse gases that heat up our planet. Every home that runs on solar means less pollution, lower bills, and power that stays on even when the grid doesn’t. Today’s blackout is temporary, but switching to solar is a permanent fix — for our homes and for the earth.
